The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, in collaboration with the World Bank Group, has launched an exciting Call for Expression of Interest (EOI) under the “Introduction of Innovative Climate Risk Financing Solutions” project. This initiative, supported by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the RAM Project, aims to revolutionize the agriculture sector in Pakistan by fostering innovative climate-smart solutions.

What is the Agriculture Finance Innovation Challenge?

The Agriculture Finance Innovation Challenge (AFIC), implemented by GIZ Pakistan, seeks to identify and partner with Agriculture Technology Companies (ATCs) to develop and pilot cutting-edge financial solutions. These solutions will enhance the resilience and productivity of smallholder farmers while addressing climate change impacts. The challenge focuses on integrating technology-based services, such as advisory tools, crop monitoring, and post-harvest solutions, to support farmers effectively.

Key Objectives

  • Promote climate-smart agriculture practices.
  • Improve access to bundled microfinance products (MFP) tailored for smallholder farmers.
  • Enhance agricultural productivity and resilience through innovative technologies.

Who Can Apply?

GIZ invites potential applicants to share proposals highlighting how their technology-based agriculture services can be coupled with microfinance. Eligible companies must:

  • Be registered in Pakistan for at least two years.
  • Have at least two years of experience providing technology-based agricultural services (e.g., advisory tools, crop monitoring).
  • Demonstrate a minimum turnover of PKR 50 million over the last two years.
  • Provide a funded program/declaration/affidavit of financial stability.

Microfinance Providers (MFPs) and other interested companies are encouraged to collaborate with ATCs to develop bundled products and services.

How to Apply

Interested companies should submit proposals meeting the minimum eligibility criteria by 05 September 2025. The application must include:

  • A company profile with a table of contents.
  • Relevant documents proving qualifications and experience.
  • Details on technology deployed, coverage, and intended targets.

Proposals should be emailed to afic@giz.de with the subject line: “Expression of Interest (EOI) – Agriculture Finance Innovation Challenge.”

Why Participate?

This is a golden opportunity for ATCs to showcase their innovations, collaborate with MFPs, and contribute to sustainable agriculture in Pakistan. Selected participants will join a matchmaking event in Karachi on 25 September 2025, where they can present their solutions and explore partnerships.

Conclusion

The Agriculture Finance Innovation Challenge is a step toward transforming Pakistan’s agricultural landscape with technology-driven financial solutions. Don’t miss the chance to be part of this impactful initiative. Submit your EOI by the deadline and help shape the future of farming!
